In his autobiography (incomplete file available at Krsna Katha file area: ATMANAND.ZIP 178679 05-Apr-97 Autobiography of Atma-tattva P. ACBSP) he describes the Ayappa story from Skandha P. (without specifying where) and the pilgrimage with some special events which happened during it. Interesting reading. Hope this helps ys bh.
