some doubts

hare Krishna,

pamho.agtsp.

In the previous meeting of the penn state vedic society, a debate about the

supremacy of Lord Krishna and the role of Lord Shiva etc was initiated. This

debate later continued in my house with the participation of those who had

raised their objections to saying that Lord krishna is the Supreme

personality of godhead. As a result of the debate, the following points came

about for which i had no answer.can someone give me the answers for it with

quotes from the scriptures(especially srimad bhagavatham)

1)some people refute the existence of radha. They say that there is no

mention of the word radha in the srimad bhagavatham and that she is a

fictitious gopi.can someone give me the sanskrit verses from srimad

bhagavatham which explicitly mentions sri sri radharani.

2)Another point that was raised was the heirarchy among the demi- gods. Some

point out that there is no sanskrit word for demi-god and that the vedas

have never mentioned about demi-god.the words sura, deva etc mean god and

not demi-god.if someone has a sanskrit dictionary, can they find if a word

for demi-god exists.

3)I have read abt the role of Lord Shiva, Lord Ganesha etc in Brahma

Samhitha, Srimad Bhagavatham etc.Can someone give me the sanskrit slokas in

which it is clearly stated (explicitly) that Lord Shiva and Lord Krishna are

not different names for Supreme Personality of godhead. It would be more

helpful if somebody can quote verses from Shiva Purana or skanda Purana. The

reason for this is bcos Srimad bhagavatham is all abt Lord Krishna, it

should naturally glorify Lord Krishna.Likewise the shiva purana will glorify

lord shiva. This implies that shiva, krishna are all diferent names for the

supreme lord who has been glorified in various forms(this is basically the

contention of some advaitins).

4)Sripada Adi Sankaracharya has clearly said that Lord Govinda is the

Supreme Personality Of Godhead in his immortal composition Bhaja

Govindam. Can someone find any verse of Sripada Adi Sankaracharya in whcih he

says that Lord Shiva is the Supreme Personality of Godhead. If such a verse

does not exist or if Sri Adi Sankaracharya clearly mentions the position of

various demi-gods etc, we can quote that to surely dispell some of the

notions of advaitins.

Thanks

K.N.Sriram
