Guest guest
We are doing some research on Deities of Radha Madhava and a couple of questions have arisen that I wonder if anyone could help with: 1) At the yogapitha temple in Mayapur (Mahaprabhu's appearance place) a sign identifies the Radha Krishna Deities there as being Radha-Madhava. In the biographies we have of Srila Bhaktisiddhanta there is no mention of him installing Deities by that name in Mayapur. Were these Deities installed by Srila Bhaktisiddhanta or someone else? Did they have another name previously? 2) It is commonly accepted that one of the sets of Radha Krishna Deities on the altar of the Radha Damodara temple in Vrindavan are the Radha Madhava of Jayadeva Goswami. Is there any pramana that these Deities are actually the Radha Madhava that belonged to Jayadeva? Thank you. It would not surprise me, but I think you are best off communicating with the Yogapith or Chaitanya Math to find out. > 2) It is commonly accepted that one of the sets of Radha Krishna Deities on > the altar of the Radha Damodara temple in Vrindavan are the Radha Madhava of > Jayadeva Goswami. Is there any pramana that these Deities are actually the > Radha Madhava that belonged to Jayadeva? There are many deities claiming this identity. I would be very doubtful. I believe that there is a Nimbarki ashram in Vrindavan that makes this same claim and theirs is probably the older one.
