Guest guest
We are working on a book and I am trying to find some verses that were quoted in a lecture by our Guru Maharaja, Srila Gour Govinda Swami. I wonder if anyone could kindly help. I have below given an approximate transliteration based on what it sounded like he said. Following that is his comments/translation of the verses. ====================== This first verse he said was from Padma Purana Patala-khanda: gopi kaya batastrataha parikrdati sarvada "In Vrindavan Krishna only plays with one gopi. That means He only plays with Radharani." ====================== The next he said was from Jiva Goswami's Gopal Campu and is spoken by Madhukanta: imau gauri syamo manasi viparito bahirapi "Radha and Syama are sitting on one, simhasana externally They are two, but internally one." ====================== The next one is also likely to be from Jiva's Gopal Campu: spura tata vastra viti budha jani niscitam idam "Those who are budhas, pandits, say it should be understood by the garments. What is that? Syamasundara's garment is a yellow garment. This indicates that in the heart of Syama, tapta-kancana-gaurangi, Gaurangi, Radha is there. Therefore His garment is yellow. And Radha's garment is a blue sari." ====================== I have both Padma Purana and Gopal Campu in Bengali/Sanskrit I just need the references if anyone can find them. Thank you very much. This is some pure unblemished love become incarnate, taking on a form with a dual manifestation -- both divided and a unity. > > The next he said was from Jiva Goswami's Gopal Campu and is spoken by > Madhukanta: > > imau gauri syamo manasi viparito bahirapi > > "Radha and Syama are sitting on one, simhasana externally They are two, but > internally one." > ====================== > > The next one is also likely to be from Jiva's Gopal Campu: > > spura tata vastra viti budha jani niscitam idam > > "Those who are budhas, pandits, say it should be understood by the garments. > What is that? Guest guest
> gopi kaya batastrataha parikrdati sarvada Sorry, I sent that last letter prematurely. Here is the full verse from the Yamala -- bhuja-dvaya-yutaù kåñëo na kadäcic caturbhujaù | gopyaikayä yutas tatra parikréòati sarvadä || Krishna appears in Vrindavan in a two armed form, never with four arms. He sports there in the company of one gopi only. Yours, Jagat
