Guest guest
In some temples in India, including ISKCON temples, photographing the Deities is forbidden. This may be because among some people being photoed is considered risky, considering that tantrics can inflict evil on persons via their photo; to prevent commercial use of Deity photos; to spare the Deities the disturbance of camera flashes; or maybe so that persons photoed in front of Deities cannot subsequently try to make a legal claim on Them. Notwithstanding, great benefit is accrued by seeing the Deity even in His photo form, so it seems more beneficial to allow photographing than to ban it. Even if businessmen make profit by selling Deity photos, in doing so they also enable more people to have darsana of the Deities. Did Srila Prabhupada give any direction about this?
