The reason why there is sometimes a deity of Mahaprabhu without Lord Nityananda in some Gaudiya Math temples is because Mahaprabhu is a combination of Radha-Krsna. In that respect, Mahaprabhu alone on the alter represents a combined form of Radha and Krishna. sri krishna caitanya radha krishna nahe anya. For instance, Srila Prabhupada donated a deity of Mahaprabhu to Kesavaji Gaudiya Matha in Mathura, who is still on the alter today beside the deity of Radha-Vinoda. Further comment on this is welcomed. ys, Isvara dasa.
