The names Gaura Hare are very powerful and confidential. You should chant them with great seriousness and attention. Both Gaura and Hare are names for the Supreme Personality of Godhead. Gaura refers to the most merciful manifestation of the Lord. Krishna is the supreme potencial male aspect of Godhead. When He wants to taste the love possesed by His internal feminine energy Radha, He comes in a form which is a combination of both. This is known as Gaura. Gaura also refers to a golden color. The topmost love for Krishna that only Radha possess is known as maha-bhava. The complexion of that sentiment is golden. When Krishna comes to taste Radha's love for Him then that complexion comes along with the love. Hence the Lord in this form of supreme loving ecstasy is known as Gaura. Hare has several meanings. In the practicing stage it refers to Hara or Radharani, Krishna's energy who is so powerful that she is able to steal (another meaning for "hare") the mind of the Supreme Lord. We approach mother Hara or Radharani because she is the giver of transcendental love of God. On the liberated platform Hare becomes Hari a name for Krishna Who steals the minds of His dearmost devotees. By chanting the names Gaura Hare one will be able to surpass the mundane physical and mental platforms and come to the pure spiritual platform of ecstatic bliss. The potency obtained from these names will greatly increase if they are chanted in the association of elevated transcendentalists. Again while there are many types of saintly transcendentalists if you are interested in chanting *these* names then I would recommend that you try to associate with Vaishnava devotees in the line of Sri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu. You will find such devotees at any temple of the ISKCON Hare Krishna movement worldwide. They are initiates into the esoteric understandings of Gaura Hare and thus they can help you. If you read more on this subject it will also help your chanting. I would recommend the translations and explanations given in the books of His Divine Grace A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada the foremost exponent of chanting the holy names in the last century. I hope that this is some help for you. All glories to the names Gaura Hare! Sincerely, Madhavananda Das <end of text>
Guest guest
No. I have not received word from anyone yet. Thank you for responding. The name was given to me as I wrote it, "Gaur Hare" even though it is pronounced as you have written it. Thank you for anything you can tell me about it. - "Sridhar Swami" <Sridhar.Swami (AT) pamho (DOT) net> "Univerself (Deb Holt)" <univerself (AT) kc (DOT) rr.com> Cc: "Ganga IDS" <Ganga.IDS (AT) pamho (DOT) net>; "(Krsna) Katha" <Katha (AT) pamho (DOT) net> Thursday, April 05, 2001 1:39 PM Gaur Hare > Did anyone answer this.
