Guest guest
Hare Krishna! >Is there any reasonable evidence/counter-evidence available regarding >the modern theory of dating the Vedas? In Sadaputa Prabhu's latest book "Mysteries of the Sacred Universe -- The Cosmology of the Bh€gavata PuraŠa" the issue of dating Vedic texts is addressed. In Chapter 1 he speaks about --- The Pur€Šas --- The Bh€gavata Pur€Ša (he gives an interesting table there with datings ranging from 1200--1000 B.C. to A.D. 1200--1300! That's a 2500 yrs. difference taking the two extremes...) --- ViŠu Pur€Ša --- Jyotia ®€stras --- S™rya-siddhanta Besides this chapter there is also Chapter 8 "Notes on Time and Chronology" which has a section on "Precession and the Dating of Texts." (8.2) You may want to have a look at the book, I'm sure it is available at the Bhaktivedanta Library Services (BLS) in Belgium (the CD, too). Thank you very much. Hare KŠa!
