Mukunda datta dasa (ACBSP) has blessed us with nectar!

 

The first NoI verse advises us to restrict our senses (go) from

wandering about like untethered cows. The best go-svami is Gopala, the

protector and controller of all cows; Krsna is also called Hrsikesha, the

master of all our senses. Bilvamangala Thakura therefore prays:

 

Bilvamangala-stava, 1.102.

 

svagocare cAraya kiM madIyaM

upekSase gAm apathe vrajantIm |

yad gopa-nAtha kriyate kadAcid

na cetasApi tvayi vRtti-bhaGgaH ||

 

"Will You not herd mine, too, into Your own cow-pasture? Certainly

You see this cow wandering off the path; who could even imagine [such] a

lapse of duty in you, the Lord of all cowherds? (I mean, how could the Lord

of the cowherds ever even imagine losing a cow?")

 

I wrote:

 

The compassionate Lord never loses a jiva. but we wander off by ourselves.

We have to request the Lord to use his stick on us.

api sphArAmode pratipade SuddhA koTi madhure

Although the very sweet nectar stream of Your transcendental pastimes

swiftly flows through the villages of the PurANas, the calf of my mind has

now entered a ditch to drink the poison of material sense happiness. O Lord

of the calves, please quickly curb him with Your stick of mercy.

 

or gopijanavallabha Swami's favourite verse he used to quote before every

class he gave:

 

durgame pathi me ’ndhasya skhalat-p€da-gater muhuƒ

sva-kp€-ya˜i-d€nena santaƒ santv avalambanam

SYNONYMS

durgame—very difficult; pathi—on the path; me—of me; andhasya—one who is

blind; skhalat—slipping; p€da—on feet; gateƒ—whose manner of moving;

muhuƒ—again and again; sva-kp€—of their own mercy; ya˜i—the stick;

d€nena—by giving; santaƒ—those saintly persons; santu—let that become;

avalambanam—my support.

 

TRANSLATION

My path is very difficult. I am blind, and my feet are slipping again and

again. Therefore, may the saints help me by granting me the stick of their

mercy as my support.

Here's another one (Bilvamangala-stava, 2.19):

 

ahaM karomi tvam apAkaromi

bahUni pApAni sadaiva viSNo |

bAlo vapuH paGkilayaty ajasraM

punaH punaH kSAlayate ca mAtA ||

 

"I am constantly comitting multiple sins, and you rectify them, O

Lord Vishnu. A child repeatedly muddies himself and the mother again and

again washes him."
