Since Srila Prabhupada is the Founder Acarya of ISKCON certainly those who are followers of Srila Prabhupada's ISKCON will follow his teachings as practically aplied by His Divine Grace. For you as a not direct follower of Srila Prabhupada is maybe looking as fanatism. But would be the meaning of Founder Acarya for His followers? If one follows his Acarya then he will get perfection. Will we come to the point that now someone has to come to introduce the higher thing then Srila Prabhupada gave? ISKCON is a preaching movement meaned to attract the maximum ammount of people and give them spiritual shelter. The book Hari Bhakti Vilas was also written to attract a certain class of people- also smarta's who are completely into following all the details of rules and regulations. Lets see Manu Smriti is a bonafide book to be followed. But one has to see first that the sastric injustions deal according to time, place and circumstances. Some devotees will be attracted to all the rules and regulations without seeing the purpose. The more advanced will focus more on the principles behind the rules and regulations. That's why some can not figure out why Srila Bhaktisiddhanta Sarasvati Thakur was acting and giving instructions in a certain way. Even disciples couldn't figure out. Also we can follow so many rules and regulations, but this can make us only more proud of austerities if not performed in the right mood. But one can follow the basic and preach to give others the KC. What would be more important? What was the main mood of Caitanya Mahaprabhu? Was it not preaching? He went all around India to preach? Srila Prabhupada saw preaching more important then all this austerities.
