The following concerns the popular personage Ramakrsna and the state of ecstasy In the book "The Madness of the Saints, Ecstatic Religion in Bengal " by June Mc Daniel, the following statement is found: She (Bhairavi Brahmani, an elderly holy woman) asked Mathur to arrange a conference of scholars to prove Ramakrsna's status as a saint. She argued for him before Vaisnavacarana, a Vaisnava scholar, quoting the 'Caitanya Caritamtra ' and other scriptures, and he agreed that this was indeed a case of divine madness and that Ramakrsna was an avatar.( The Madness of the Saints Pg. 96 ) My question to you is, is there any quote by His Divine Grace A.C.Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada that refutes Ramakrsna as an avatar or in any way associated with pure devotional service? And secondly does the Vaisnava community have any record of the above mentioned incident quoted? I am doing a bit of studies into the history of ecstasy groups. Thanking you in advance for your help Roger (Text PAMHO:8048459) ------ ------- End of Forwarded Message ------
