Guest guest
> Dear devotees, if you could kindly help me abouth this statement from > Krsna book, KRSNA, the Supreme Personality of Godhead, page 560/561, Five > Queens Married by Krsna: "...And he gave a hundred times more horses than > chariots, or 90.000.000 horses, and a hundred times more menservants than > horses." That makes 9.000.000.000, (nine billion) menservants. Huge number > ?!? > > Thank you in advance. > Jay Prabhupad !! > Your servant, Vikrama Kesari dasa. Yeh, it is huge numbers. Just like Ugrasena was said to have about 1 billion servants. I wonder how many billions of people must be living in Bharat in those days. Just imagine if there are 1 billion servants for one king, what must be the population of free men. Must be talking of tens of billions. And how where do you keep 1 billion servants? How big must be palace be? Any way, there are always confusions when we see all these big numbers in the scriptures. According to Srila Bhaktivinoda, a saragrahi Vaisnava is not so much concern about details in the sastras, which are sometimes exagerations, but he is only concerned about the essence of the scriptures, which is surrendering to the Supreme Lord and develop love for Him ys, Isvara dasa.
