Guest guest
>In fact, I was replying to the beginning of your original response, >above, wherein you wrote: "Never heard such thing, nor found is in >Vedabase". I found that a bit opinionated, which led to the barrage of >quotes. It still isn't clear to me where in any of your quotes the following is found: "Why is the marriage without children considered abominable?" This is the specific quote Bhakta Jan prabhu was speaking about. I must admit that I also never heard such a thing, nor ever found it in the Vedabase. No matter how many quotes about sons delivering fathers I find, it still doesn't make the above quote any more present in the Vedabase then before. All the quotes you provided simply state the purpose of the son and how in Vedic culture the son delivers the father from hell. What is the exact connection between those quotes and "mariage without children is >>abominable<<". This is like someone saying "One who doesn't worship the devas is abominable", and to prove it just cite some quotes about the benefits of going to heaven by worshipping the devas. It is true that the Vedic culture is to worship the devas for gradual purification. But those on the path of bhakti are not required to worship the devas regardless of whether they are neophyte devotees or advanced devotees. Srila Prabhupada never advised any disciple that they were not performing on the level of para-dharma (because they liked pizza) and therefore they should actually worship the demigods. Devotees take shelter of Krishna and the spiritual master. If They are unable to deliver the devotees from hell, and if all the sadhana the devotees have performed throughout their life cannot protect them from hell, then someone has mislead them and they should demand their "money back". If their only guarantee to be delivered from hell is by having a son who will perform some ritualistic ceremony, then this path of Krishna bhakti isn't as powerful as it claims. Regardless, I would still be interested in any quote from Srila Prabhupada where he says "marriage without children is considered abominable?" Abominable is a very heavy word. You can see how Srila Prabhupada uses this word usually to refer to the most sinful activities. Now please explain how a celibate husband and wife engaged in Krishna consciousness are considered abominable?
