If you look on the calendar just before the beginning of the first month of Caturmasya, it says, "Caturmasya is not observed during Purusottama Adhika Masa." So from September 3 to 17, we observe the milk fast. Then from September 16 to October 16, we do not observe the fast, and we start again on October 17. Sombody please correct me if I got it wrong.
