Guest guest
Dear devotees, I remember myself, 16 years ago, in New Mayapura, France, sitting on the grass and preaching to a lady. My wife was also there. It was a beautiful summer day. The lady, in her fifty's, was enjoying very much her stay and association with the devotees. She asked me the question: "Why is Krishna worshiped with five lamps during aratik?Because He is like a king..." was certainly my answer. She was an educated lady. I did not think that she might already know that. She gently told me that there must be more to it. What more could it be? I got a little upset. These people, they come with all their speculations and love to dwell on mystical and esoteric meanings. Why seven circles around the body? Why four? Two or three? Futile questions. In fact, they don't want to surrender to Krishna. Did I, I mean, devotees, ever ask all these stupid questions? No, set your mind at rest, I did no say that. My wife, who was more sensitive than me to the inquiries of that lady, took her side. "Prabhu, she humbly apostrophized me, I am sure that there is some explanation to these five lamps…" My own wife was challenging me now! She had just joined Krishna Consciousness and was telling me how to preach! I could not swallow it. (Now I have a ball in my throat, which was diagnosed as a malfunction of the thyroid.) I was pretty much disturbed. I remember well that I was trying to hide the fact that I had not any answer to her question. Me, a knowledgeable brahmana that my wife wanted to present to her new friendly guest, being caught in puff up ignorance! Yes, there was more to it in fact. I think I had no real respect for her, for her intelligence. I could not appreciate her approach. I was so proud of being a devotee that any "karmi's" oriented speculative question was a pure nonsense. A proof of their contaminated consciousness. By Krishna's grace, she is still with the devotees up to day. So, now, when someone asks me a question like: "Why Avatars have different and specific body color?", I first tell him if I know or not that specific answer, and if not I try to find it. In all cases, I show him my concern. A demonstration of love. The mood of a preacher. Well, I am trying anything to get some information. Next week is my presentation. My question was: Some inquisitive persons are asking me for the reasons why Avatars have different and specific body color. The question arise while I was lecturing on the Golden Avatar, using as explanation the answer given from Karabhajana muni to King Nimi. They ask me also to elaborate more on the symbolism of the numbers in which the incarnations appear. I have a chance to present again the philosophy if I have enough esoteric material. I will appreciate to receive any information on this matters. Thank you. Ys
