Guest guest
Dear Dhyanakunda mataji, Please accept my humble obeisances. All Glories to Srila Prabhupada. >There is indeed a statement by Bhaktivinoda Thakura about hells being >imaginary. It is from a book by Bhaktivinoda Thakura, The Bhagavata: Thanks for pointing that out. Sorry for calling it garbage. >Let this be a comment >to your statement: >>Nobody can bear to hear such offensive statements. By speaking such a >>statement you are guilty of the fourth & fifth nama-aparadhas and we are >>becoming guilty of the same by reading it. But I still maintain my stand that Tattva-sandarbha Prabhu was offensive for the following two reasons: (1) Bhaktivinode Thakura writes >These are certainly >poetical and were originally created by the rulers of countries in order to >check the evil deeds of ignorant people, who are not able to understand the >conlusions of philosophy... He continues >THE BHAGAVATA CERTAINLY TELLS US OF A STATE OF REWARD AND PUNISHMENT IN THE >FUTURE ACCORDING TO DEEDS IN OUR PRESENT SITUATION Even if we assume that heaven & hell is only imaginary (apparent meaning of Bhaktivinode Thakura's words) still the extract 'If you miss Janmashtami Fasting' cannot be rejected as being written just to frighten people (as done by Tattva-Sandarbha Prabhu) because it mentions the suffering ONE HAS TO UNDERGO EVEN ON THIS EARTH. (for eg. the earth, where he becomes a worm in stool for sixty thousand years Then he becomes a vulture for ten billion births, a pig for a hundred births, a dog for a hundred births, and a jackal for a hundred births.) AND EARTH IS NOT IMAGINARY. NEITHER IS STOOL IMAGINARY, NOR DOG, NOR JACKAL ETC. Bhaktivinode Thakura himself says that rewards or punishments are real. (2)Srila Prabhupada never taught us to see the descriptions of hell in the Fifth canto to be unreal. Infact he instructed the devotees in the BI to build a working model for the universe to be presented to the scientists based on the fifth canto. >Regarding posting speculations: If a devotee admits his idea is a >speculation, if he submits it in the mood of sincere inquiry, and if it is >not downright offensive, then I tend to allow it here Thats okay with me if it is okay with the organiser (i.e you). But the whole point is that Tattva-sandarbha Prabhu did'nt submit his speculations in a mood of any sincere inquiry but rather he was trying to justify his speculations forcibly by rhetorically trying to say that if Krsna allows such a thing, He is an extremely cruel and egoistic Lord. So if it turns out that Krsna really gives these punishments as described in the Brahma Vaivarta Purana (which nobody can say that he does not just on the basis of one para by Bhaktivinode Thakura in which he says both things) that means Tattva-sandarbha prabhu is being offensive to the Supreme Personality of Godhead. KRSNA CAN NEVER BE CRUEL OR EGOISTIC IN ANY CIRCUMSTANCES. IT IS SO SIMPLY BECAUSE THESE BAD TRAITS ARE NOT INCLUDED IN HIS 64 QUALITIES. AND WHATEVER HE DOES OR WILL DO IS THE RIGHT THING FOR EACH & EVERY LIVING ENTITY. THIS IS THE POINT. Your servant, Nayana-ranjana dasa br.
