Hare Krishna, I was just told this story...

Once a Brahmin was taken bath in the river, he was very strict and clean, and

always took bath before doing is pug, as a brahmin should be.

However on this day a washer man (or dobi) was cleaning his clothes on the

rocks near by and has the dobi hit his clothes on the rocks the splashes of

dirty water would land on the brahmin,

The brahmin being tolerant again washed himself, but then again splashes of

dirty water would land on his clean body, after three times the brahmin prayed

to Lord Vishnu - "please help me Lord, let this dobi was somewhere else so I

can be clean and do your puja" ...

In Vaikunta, Lord Narayana was seeing this brahmin in distress and immediately

woke up to intervene. Sri Laxmi devi inquired from the Lord why He has woken

up. The Lord replied my devotee has called for Me and I will go there, so Lord

Vishnu left to help the brahmin,

Meanwhile, back on the river bank the brahmin was losing his cool, then in a

burst of anger the brahmin starting telling the dobi off, then a string of

insults and curses pursued, back and forth...

Back in Vaikunta, Lord Narayana returned. Seeing the Lord return, Sri Laxmi

devi inquired why the Lord had returned so quickly,

The Lord replied, "I was mistaken, it was just two dobi's quarrelling"...
