Everybody wants to claim Sridhara Swami as their own, thus the controversy. However, Srila Prabhupada accepted him as a Vaishnava and Srila Bhaktisiddhanta considered him to be of the Vishnu-swami sampradaya. That's sufficient for us. I have heard that there are also explicit evidences; for example, Sridhar Swami's acceptance of the reality of the world, of Deity worship, of devotional service as the means and end, of specifically worshipping Lord Nrsimha, etc. > 1. Why is he considered the original Bhagavatam comentator if, as far as I > understood, Madhva was prior to him? Madhvacharya only commented on selected verses of the Bhagavatam -- the supposedly more difficult ones, so that way his disciples could figure out the easier ones on their one by following his lead on the difficult ones. So, his Bhagavata-Nirnaya isn't considered a full Bhagavatam commentary. Yours, Vijay
