DRavida: > From subsequent text it seems so, doesn't it? Mahamantra: No Asit turns out he didn't die at all. My friend Radha-Ramana (who's giving class on the subsequent verse today) just read from Bhavartha dipika on this. There Sridhar Swami says that when Utathya (mamata's husband) went out for some work, then in a sneaky way, brihaspati went into Utathya's house and forcibly raped Mamata, injecting his semen. The child (already in the womb)- was named Dirghatama, and he forbade the entrance of another child, saying "there is hardly room for me in here, what to speak of room for another person," Hearing this, Brihaspati got angry and cursed him, "You become blind". And forcibly injected his seed-semen. The unborn child (Dirghatama) forcibly pushed the new intruder out of the womb by his feet. Instantly, (sadhya) Bharadvaja "two-maintain" took birth. He did not have to wait 10 months. (He is not to be confused with the rsi named Bharadvaja, who is a different entity) and the other blind boy Dirghatama, (who evidently wasn't finished "cooking yet") took birth later. Interesting huh? ys MMDASBR
