Thanks for the references. The ice-cream truck example is very nice but again it is not condemning ice-cream but the idea of the conditioned souls running out to satisfy their tongues with ice-cream. It could have been a truck selling mangos and the same maya would be there. Ice-cream in itself is not maya. Guest guest
"If one offers Me with love and devotion, a leaf, a flower, fruit, or water, I will accept it." - 9.26 Gita So if the love and devotion is there, Krsna will accept it regardless of whether the person was able to follow all the rules involved. Therefore, it's recommended that people ALWAYS offer their food to Krsna even if they can't strictly follow all the rules. We can offer, no doubt. Whether Krsna will accept it or not, that is another thing. Speaking about love and devotion, I always though it means to offer Him what he wants. And as far as ice-cream goes, I tend to think that it is not the most basic food we need for sustenance (like milk) and that we have to buy it. Why not buy milk and make it ourselves? A symptom of advancement would be to increase our standard of devotional service, hence of the food we offer to Krsna also. While it may be Ok for somebody who is just beggining his KC to offer the Ice-cream he buys, I doubt it is for second initiated devotees. Any way, this is just my oppinion, no need to comment since I have firm reasons not to change the oppinion. Another thing is, I kind of sense that this discussion about the Ice-cream is going far off. It bothers me, at least, and I could guess it bothers other devotees also. It would be nice to stop with it. ys Ard Ps. I though I would post something my Guru Maharaja wrote. Please take it simply as what an older member of our society has to say, not that I want to convince you what you should do: > We should avoid eating anything prepared by non-devotees as much as > possible.
