Dear Krsna Katha members,

Please accept my humble obeisances. All glories to Srila Prabhupada.

Here in our Sri Sri Radharasabihari Mandir, Mumbai, following a particular

Srimad Bhagavatam class, we are having some nice discussions among ourselves

on COM. Desiring to share the results of this transcendental churning I

hereby present one of H.G. Nayana Ranjana prabhu's postings (with his

permission) for the satisfaction of all assembled vaisnavas.

The answer lies in Caitanya Mangala itself

---------------------------

Dear Premabhakti Prabhu,

Please accept my most humble obeisances. All Glories to Srila Prabhupada.

Your question has helped me to do research on Sri Caitanya Mangala and read

many nectarean secrets of the pastimes of Lord Sri Krsna Caitanya

Mahaprabhu.

You write:

> In chaitanya mangala Locana dasa thakura gives a narration of Naradamuni's

> visit to Dwaraka, in the spiritual world.

> The book states that when Narada muni visited Krsna's palace in Dwaraka

> after witnessing the fallen condition of the earth which was devoid of

> Krishna consciousness. He requested the Lord to decent and save the

> conditioned souls.

> Also mother Rukminidevi's complained that Krsna has only one weakness that

> He did not had the ability to understand the loving feelings of His

> foremost devotees like Herself and Radharani.

>

> Lord's compassion for the fallen people and taste the nectar of the

> devotees' love for Him especially Srimati Radhika He appeared as Gauranga.

> That form had shown to Narada muni and told him that He would be appearing

> in this golden form for the age of Kali to deliver the fallen and taste

> the Radharani's love for Him.

>

> I found in this book He is not discriminating Himself from Vrndhavan

> Krsna.

This one instance does not prove that Lord Caitanya is only Vasudeva Krsna

of Dvarka neither does it prove that Vasudeva Krsna in Dvaraka &

Shyamasundera Krsna in Vrndabana are the same. If you stick to the same

logic, you can also say that Lord Ramachandra incarnated as Lord Gauranga.

Because it is described in the Navadvipa Dhama Mahatmya that in the

Mamagacchi village in Modadrumadv…pa, the following pastime occured:

In a previous kalpa, when Lord Ramacandra was banished to the

forest, He came to this place with Laksmana and Janaki. He built a hut

under a huge banyan tree here and lived happily for some time. Seeing the

effulgence of Navadv…pa, the son of Raghu began to slightly smile.

"'Listen, Sita, here is one very secret story. When the glorious age

of Kali advents, I will display a yellow complexioned form here in Nadia. I

will take birth in the womb of Saci in Jagann€tha Mira's house. I will give

all the fortunate souls who see My childhood pastimes the supreme gift of

prema. At that time, I will enjoy My beloved educational pastimes and reveal

the glories of the holy name. I will then take sannyasa and go to Puri, and

My own mother will weep with My wife in her arms."

This one instance you mention in the 2nd Chapter about Dvarkadhish Krishna

showing the Gauranga form to Narada is not the only instance in Sri Caitanya

Mangala when Narada went to Goloka to beg the Lord for adventing on the

Earth.

In the second instance in Chp 5, Sutra Khanda 43, Lord Jagannatha at

Nilacala told Narada to visit Goloka again to have darshan of Lord Gauranga

and beg him to personally come and save the whole universe.

This time, Narada first entered Vaikuntha and went to Lord Narayana and

pleaded to see that golden form again. Then Lord Narayana told him to go to

Maha Vaikuntha or Goloka to see the golden form of Lord Gauranga.

From Sutra Khanda 44,45:

"Kalpa-vrksa trees and Kamadhenu [surabhi cows] dotted the

landscape. Seeing some flowering vines, Narada remembered Uddhava's desiring

to take birth as a creeper in Vrndavana. Soon Narada came to an attractive

private grove in the inner portion of Goloka. There he saw the golden form

of Krishna, Sri Gauranga Mahaprabhu, sitting upon an ornately decorated,

brilliant golden throne.

"Radhika and Her gopi friends [representing the energies of

Vrndavana], holding jeweled waterpots, stood on the Lord's right side. On

the left side [representing the energies of Dvaraka] were Rukmini and her

followers, holding golden waterpots containing jeweled water.

So in this second instance, it is mentioned that Narada clearly goes to a

grove in Vrndabana where He sees Lord Gauranga face to face. Because

Shyamasundera Krsna or Lord Caitanya includes Vasudeva Krsna, we find here

that on the right side were Radhika & the gopis and on the left side were

His energies in Dvarka i.e Rukmini & her followers.

Now you may ask this question that how was Vasudeva Krsna in Dvarka able to

reveal the golden form of Lord Gauranga in front of Narada in the first

place?

It is described in books like Brhad Bhagavatamrta by Srila Sanatana Goswami

& Uddhava Sandesh by Srila Rupa Rupa Goswami that Vasudeva Krsna in Dvaraka

was crying constantly on being separated from the transcendental body of

Shyamasundera Krsna (who never leaves Vrndavana) because he was no longer

able to taste the love of Radharani & the gopies. Ofcourse Rupa Goswami

describes that the Shyamasundera Krsna was hiding in the bushes in Vrndabana

itself when the gopies were crying & lamenting in their apparent separation

from Krsna. So Vasudeva Krsna even while staying in Dvarka was always

absorbed in the thought of Vrndabana and the love of the Vrajabasis. So if

Vasudeva Krsna exhibits the transcendental form of Gauranga which is the

combined form of Radha & Krsna of Vrndabana, there is no surprise.

But it is proved from a pastime quoted earlier that Lord Narayana directed

Narada to a grove in Vrndabana to see the form of Gauranga, which is His

original form.

Please don't forget that in the same Caitanya Mangala, Brahma, Siva,

Saunaka, and others were praying to the Lord in Sacidevi's womb in Sutra 58:

"All glories to the Lord who is known as dhira lalita. All glories,

to the darling son of Nanda Maharaja who steals the hearts of everyone. In

Kali-yuga He manifests from the womb of Sacidevi in order to enjoy His

transcendental pastimes in this world.

So Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu is Shyamasundera Krsna, the son of Nanda Maharaja

with the complexion of Radharani or we can say that He is the combined form

of Radha & Krsna.

Regarding the identity of Jagannatha Misra & Saci Mata, you cannot just say

that they were Vasudeva & Devaki. The Gaura Gannodesa Dipika by Kavi

Karnapura makes it clear:

37. Srimati Yasoda-devi and Vraja's king Nanda, who had been like

two great oceans of the nectar of love for Krsna during the Lord's pastimes

in Vrndavana, appeared during Lord Caitanya's pastimes as Srimati Saci-devi

and Sriman Jagannatha Purandara. Of this there is no doubt.

38/39. Some devotees say that the two demigods Aditi and Kasyapa,

who incarnated as Kausalya and Dasaratha, Prsni and Sutapa, and also as

Devaki and Vasudeva, the parents of Balarama and Krsna, also entered the

bodies of Saci-devi and Jagannatha. These devotees say that if this were

not so, then it would not have been possible for Balarama to take birth as

their son Visvarupa.

I can say a lot more. But no time. I hope these points help resolve the

doubt in your mind.

Your servant,

Nayana-ranjana dasa
