Guest guest
The individual is the passenger in the car of the material body, and intelligence is the driver. The mind is the reins, and the senses are the horses. The self is thus the enjoyer or sufferer in the association of the mind and senses. So it is understood by great thinkers. The mind of a person who lacks discrimination will always be uncontrolled; thus his senses are always unbridled like the unbroken horses of a driver. But he who has proper knowledge will always have his mind properly in harmony with the self, and thus his senses will be controlled, like well-trained horses. He who is without proper knowledge and whose mind is not fixed, being always impure, never reaches the goal, but returns again to the world. A man of proper knowledge and realization whose mind is ever absorbed and pure, reaches that place from which he is not born again. The man who has realized knowledge for his charioteer, and holds the reins of the mind, reaches the destination, Visnu, who is the supreme goal of life.
