Once, a very rich brahmana living in Govardhan Hill, was a great devotee of

Balaräma. He understood how beautiful Balaräma was, and had the desire and

confidence that he would get the darsana of Balaräma. He was therefore

always circumambulating Govardhan Hill, and begging the Vrajvasis for their

mercy to one day see Balaräma. That was his goal of life. Thus, because of

his strong desire, at the time of Lord Caitanya's pastimes, Lord Nityananda

was present to give him His mercy.

Lord Nityananda, who is non-different from Lord Balaräma, went to the

brahmana to give His mercy. When the brahmana saw Lord Nityananda, he

thought, "Who is this avadhuta?" He saw His bright effulgence, and knew He

was not an ordinary person but someone very special. The brahmana approached

Him for His mercy bringing milk products such as milk, yogurt, and curd as

an offering to the avadhuta. He asked Him to accept the offering and begged

for His blessing of one day getting the darsana of Rohini nandan, Baladev.

Lord Nityananda simply smiled and accepted the offering. The brahmana then

took the remnants and went into ecstasy after taking that prasadam.

He didn't know who this person was and thus he wanted to go back to see this

person again, but he was unable to do so because he was too much in ecstasy.

In the evening in his dreams, Lord Nityananda appeared to him and the

brahmana was happy to see Him. Then Lord Nityananda showed him His original,

beautiful form of Lord Baladeva, bright like millions of moons. Lord

Nityananda is 'Nitai pada kamala, koti chandra .... ' an effulgence like

millions of moons, brilliant and white. That is why Lord Balaräma is very

white. The brahmana saw the beautiful attractive features of Baladeva; the

beautiful black hair, with long blue garments, necklace, armlets, earring

and black tilak made of mud. Baladeva's arms are very long, reaching His

knees. He wears a gunja mala made from red and black berries from

Vrindavana. The brahmana was mesmerized by His beauty, and fell down and

took shelter of Lord Baladeva. Just at that point Balaräma disappeared and

he awoke from his dream. The brahmana thus became very anxious to go back to

Govardhan.
