Further, Xerox machines had been invented long before the Lilamrita and were also present in India -- why wouldn't a disciple make backup copies of precious letters from his beloved shiskha gurudev before entrusting them to the historically inefficient Indian postal service? "few hundred" = 200 ? 200 letters / 11 years = 18.2 letters / year = 1.5 letters / month Quite a rate of letter-writing! Surely one of Srila Prabhupada's secretaries along the way could attest to sending an average of 1.5 letters to a specific individual each month, could he not? Yours, Vijay S.
