There is definitely purport in CC (most likely Madhya 20) which definitely calls them a type of saktyavesa called bhagavad-avesa. Then there are some Pancaratra references about Kapila being saktyavesa (Visvaksena samhita and either Sattvata or Ahirbudhnya samhitas).
