There is fantastic extract from Vajra-sucika Upanisad, about how life (jiva), body (deha), birth (jati), knowledge (jnana), duty (dharma) & even work (karma) do not make one into a brahmana. Then the qualities of a brahmana are described and it is said that these qualities make one into a brahmana. It is a long extract with the long original Sanskrit text.
