Slaying of Karna by Arjuna

> "The son of Pritha [Arjuna], irritated in fight, shot a quiver of arrows

> to slay Karna. With half his arrows, he parried those of his antagonist;

> with four times the square root of the quiver-full, he killed his horses;

> with six arrows, he slew Salya [Karna's charioteer]; with three he

> demolished the umbrella, standard and bow; and with one, he cut off the

> head of the foe. How many were the arrows which Arjuna let fly?"

 

Arjuna did not kill Salya, Yudhistira did it the next day. Salya was the

next choosen commander after Karna and he lasted for only half a day, great

warrior that he was, this is on the eighteenth day and last day of the

battle. there is something wrong with the translation. my sources are

Ganguly, Dutt and others.
