bAlAya nIla-vapuSe nava-kiGkiNIka-

jAlAbhirAma-jaghanAya dig-ambarAya

zArdUla-divya-nakha-bhUSaNa-bhUSitAya

nandAtmajAya navanItam uSe namas te

 

"At daybreak, I offer my obeisances unto the son of Nanda MahArAja, the

child

of bluish complexion on whose hips rests a charming new belt of small,

tinkling bells, who is ornamented with an auspicious necklace of bejeweled

tiger's claws, whose only clothing is the sky, and who is the thief of freshly

churned butter."
