Vraja Mandala Parikrama

 

Day 5

 

We started our Parikrama today from Madhuvan where the devotees had spent

the night near Krsna kunda. The party started walking at 6 am and by 7 am we

reached the second forest named Talavan. A long time ago there was hundreds

and thousands of tal trees here which gave a very sweet fruit called Tal.

 

H. H Lokanath Swami told us the pastimes, which took place in this forest.

"Once Krsna with the cowherd boys were not far from here. They were in

Madhuvan and the wind was blowing, carrying a wonderful fragrance of the tal

fruits. The cowherd boys were attracted by the sweet smell of this tal

fruit, and appealed to Krsna and Balaram to get them some. So Krsna and

Balaram went there to get the fruit for his cowherd boyfriends and killed

the ass demon Dhenukasura who tried to stop them. (See Krsna Book)

 

Donkeys are known for being worked hard, and less intelligent. They think,

they will not have enough grass to eat. This mentality is found also in

human beings. When a donkey finishes their work they run after the she

donkey, but she kicks him in the face. When we have to leave this forest, we

have to be free from these bad qualities. Balaram, being the original

spiritual master, killed Dhenukasura. In the same way we have to approach a

spiritual master to kill this bad qualities. We have to meditate on this

pastimes while walking in this Talavan forest."

Sri Balaram Ki Jai, Talvan ki jai.

 

After that the party went to Padma Kunda. Kapila Deva performed his

austerities here, just by taking bath here all the Vedas are revealed to us.
