Radha Kunda Parikrama

 

A long time ago on the banks of Shyama Kunda there were many trees. When

they wanted to cut these trees down to made way to dig Shyama Kunda, the

five Pandavas, who were residing in one of these trees appeared in a dream

to Raghunath das Gosvami: "Please don't cut us. We want to stay on the bank

of Radha Kunda." So they dug around to avoid cutting the tree. That is why

today Shyama kunda is not square.

 

Raghunath Das Gosvami used to sit near by this tree doing his bhajan 24

hours a day. He was completely absorbed in his devotional service.

 

One day, it was so hot, that a beautiful lady came near to Raghunath Das

creating a little shade with her sari to protect his body from the scorching

heat. Sanatana Gosvami was watching the scene from a distance. He realized

that this woman, was not an ordinary woman. She looks very shy and chaste,

she was wearing a nice sari. This lady was none other than Srimati

Radharani.

 

Sanatana Das Gosvami was chastising Raghunath das Gosvami to build a bhajan

kutir, but he did not take any notice. He was completely absorbed. Sanatana

Gosvami was very angry: "Stop this. Because of your devotion for Krishna,

Radharani is personally coming to protect you from the sun."

 

Another day, Raghunath das was near by the banks of Radha Kunda when a tiger

came near to him, drinking some water from the kund. While Sanatana Gosvami

was watching, Lord Krsna appeared on the scene with His sudarsan chakra in

His hand, to protect him in case the tiger attacted Raghunath das.

 

This time Sanatana Gosvami became completely disturbed: "Stop this and build

a bhajan kutir." Raghunath Das realized that, he is the servant of Radha and

Krsna, and now the Divine Couple was serving him so he decided to build a

bhajan Kutir.

 

This is the potency of devotional service, the Gosvamis were such exalted

personalities, that Krsna had come in person to protect them. They are

associates of Radha and Krsna. Their eternal form is female, manjaris. They

know everything. This is a special feature of our Gaudiya Vaisnava

sampradaya, everything is revealed. Srila Prabhupada said: "everything, we

need to know is in the scriptures."

 

We have to desire to be close to Krsna. When we are very close to some body,

his phone number is known to us. Are we dialing this phone number? Are we

hearing? Or only speaking? Are we avoiding offences. If the talk is not

sweet, not gentle, there will be no response.

 

Radha Kunda Shyama Kunda Ki Jai.
