I have a different edition of HBV that follows a different numbering system. Could you give the Sanskrit of the first words of these two quotes? > Does Srila Jiva Gosvami quote GS in his Sat-sandarbha? Or maybe > Visvanatha Cakravarti Thakura in his works? I could not find any references to GS in the Sandarbhas. There are different authors who share the name Garga. ¬g-veda 6.47 is composed by Garga Bh€radv€ja. Vddha Garga (the old Garga) is the author of an astronomical work. N€rada Bhakti S™tra 17 says: kath€div iti gargaƒ, "Garga Muni says that bhakti is fondness for narrations about the Lord, by the Lord, and so on." I have not seen Visvanatha quoting GS, but then again, I haven't read all that VTC wrote. In the "r…-caitanya-bh€gavatera gau…ya-bh€ya-dhta pram€Ša-grantha-t€lik€", Garga Samhita is not listed. (the list of works quoted in the commentary to Caitanya Bhagavata) The Vacaspatyam Sanskrit-Sanskrit dictionary lists under "Garga-samhita" "k€la-jñ€na-saˆhit€ | garga-kte jyotia-grantha-bhede", "A certain work on astronomy written by Garga." The Hindi preface to the Venkateshvara Steam Press edition of the GS does not contain any text critical notes. ys end
