perhaps we should look at the sanskrt and see if there is specific mention

of an eighteen hour tithi, which sounds almost impossible. then someone can

look and see if it is possible but rare. shyamasundara could be consulted

to see if it ever occrus.

 

 

Perhaps what the words could mean is: the number of hours from the sunrise

of the previous day during which the ekadasi tithi had already started

(maybe five hours before the sunrise, lasted for eighteen hours after

sunrise.) then dvadasi tithi started.
