Guest guest
> "The Gau…ya VaiŠavas, or Bengali VaiŠavas, are mostly followers of ®r… > Caitanya Mah€prabhu" (NOI preface) > > Question: > Why do we say Bengali Vaisnavas? > If we identify the vaisnavas in Bengal as Bengali Vaisnava then one can > even say American vaisnava etc. My explanation is this: SBSSTP states in his Gaudiya Bhashya into to CB: "The Gaudiyas are not only residents of Gauda but by the help of Gaudiya language (Bengali) they become expert in the language of the eternally liberated inhabitants of Goloka and thus understand themselves as associates of the Lord." Thus Bengali is an eternal language spoken in the topmost part of Vaikuntha which is the Navadvipa partition of Goloka Vrindavana. Therefore identifying Vaishnavas as Bengali Vaishnavas or Gaudiya Vaishnavas is not a bodily identification but it means that they speak the Bengali language even in their spiritual body in Navadvipa. Thus it is an eternal designation of their spiritual body or soul. English language is only spoken in this material world or America is only a country in this material world whereas Gauda and Bengali exists in the spiritual world, therefore we are called as Gaudiyas. Thank you for asking this question, it brought to light a very imp point. Daso'smi, Tridandi Bhikshu Bhaktiratna Sadhu.
