The Vaishnavas here in Orissa and Vrindaban observe their Caturmasya vratas from Guru Purnima until the Purusottam Adhikas Mas begins (here on the 18th of Sept). At that time there is a "time-out" for Caturmasya and whatever vratas they are observing for Caturmasya are suspended until Purusottam Adhikas Mas is finished at the beginning of Kartik. At the beginning of Kartika they again take up their Caturmasya vratas. There are also special vratas that many observe during the Purusottam Adhikas month. These have nothing to do with Caturmasya.
