The situation of a common devotee is that he should give a son to his wife so she could be protected after his departure. > According to you we should follow people like > Pandu, but not other saintly people? Whether Pandu is actually the great > example for devotees to follow is highly debatable. What do you mean Prabhuji? > I base my stance on Srila Prabhupada's direct > instruction to Satsvarupa maharaja. Don't mind Prabhu, but letters are very often instructions given to a particular person in particular circumstances. My believe is that Srila Prabhupada's instruction to HH Satswarupa Goswami is an exception whereas the general rule is that those who marry should have children. Lets see if Badhra (if I remember his name correctly) can provide us with the quotes from Srila Prabhupada in this regard. > You should understand that your position is impossible to defend because > it is fanatic and absolute. You suggest that every single married person > MUST have a child, otherwise they are violating some undefined "Vedic > culture" which you suggest is more or less your upbringing. I am sure that his upbringing was characterized by many aspects of Vedic culture. Though Srila Prabhupada made it clear that nowadays Hinduism is a speculation he also many times said that Vedic culture or system is now called Hinduism.
