Guest guest
> Dear devotes > pamno. > > If somebody know where I can find this mantra. It's call > "Hanimana Chalisa" Hanumana Chalisa is not a Vedic mantra, it a prayer composed by Tulsidasa, a 16th century poet of Northern India. We do not accept Tulsi Dasa because he was tainted by mayavada tendencies and also infected with the idea that varna is according to birth not "guna + karma" see Srimad Bhagavatam 1.16.31 and purport below: atmanam canusocami bhavantam camarottamam devan pitrn rsin sadhun sarvan varnams tathasraman TRANSLATION I am thinking about myself and also, O best amongst the demigods, about you, as well as about all the demigods, sages, denizens of Pitrloka, devotees of the Lord and all men obedient to the system of varna and asrama in human society. PURPORT To effect the perfection of human life there is cooperation between men and demigods, sages, denizens of the Pitrloka, devotees of the Lord and the scientific system of varna and asrama orders of life. The distinction between human life and animal life therefore begins with the scientific system of varna and asrama, guided by the experience of the sages in relation with the demigods, gradually rising to the summit of reestablishing our eternal relation with the Supreme Absolute Truth, the Personality of Godhead, Lord Sri Krsna. When God-made varnasrama-dharma, which is strictly meant for developing animal consciousness into human consciousness and human consciousness into godly consciousness, is broken by advancement of foolishness, the whole system of peaceful and progressive life is at once disturbed. In the age of Kali, the first attack of the venomous snake strikes against the God-made varnasrama-dharma, and thus a person properly qualified as a brahmana is called a sudra, and a sudra by qualification is passing as a brahmana, all on a false birthright claim. To become a brahmana by a birthright claim is not at all bona fide, although it may be a fulfillment of one of the conditions. But the real qualification of a brahmana is to control the mind and the senses, and to cultivate tolerance, simplicity, cleanliness, knowledge, truthfulness, devotion and faith in the Vedic wisdom. In the present age, consideration of the necessary qualification is being neglected, and the false birthright claim is being supported even by a popular, sophisticated poet, the author of Rama-carita-manasa. This is all due to the influence of the age of Kali. Thus mother earth, represented as a cow, was lamenting the regrettable condition. ____________________ Tulsi Dasa is the author of "Rama-carita-manasa" and "Hanuman Chalisa." Spiritual life is a Razor's edge, a mistake can lead to rebirth, hence being conservative is very much warranted. When it comes to Ramayana we should only accept what is written by Valmiki Rsi or supplementary information found in some Puranas like Bhagavatam and Padma Purana. Kamba Ramayana (written by a Tamilian), Tulsidasa Ramayana, and others introduce all kinds of specuculative imagination, embellishments and add events that did not happen. For example Tulsidasa adds the Laksman Rekha--a supposed mystic line drawn around Sita to protect her when He leaves to find Rama. Ravana is unable to cross it so tricks Sita to go over it. This is pure (or maybe inpure would be better) invention on Tulisidasa's part, as it is not found in Valmiki Ramayana. Our Acaryas like Madhvamuni strictly advocate that only the version of Valmiki is authoritative when it comes to Ramayana. > > My wife has difficaltys with halth and astrologer advised to chant this > mantra. > > ys. Alala Krishna das To be able to properly advise on such matters is no easy task, it takes an expert to know what will be effective. In any case I would not advise chanting of mantras like Hanuman Chalisa that are sarpochista --touched by the lips of a serpent--for they will have poisonous effect. If one is to invoke the mercy of Hanuman best to get the Valmiki Ramayana (there are other versions but that is the only authentic one) and read from it. Or read the prayers of Hanuman found in 5th canto Srimad Bhagavatam. yhs Shyamasundara Dasa www.ShyamasundaraDasa.com
