Forgetting spiritual mission?

Dear Maharajas, dear devotees,

Please accept my humble obeisances.

All glories to Srila Prabhupada.

 

One devotee from Poland was present at the Juhu Temple anniversary

celerbations and he heard very amazing story told by Giriraj Maharaj.

Giriraj Maharaj said that Srila Prabhupada said that Gandhi was a messenger

from spiritual world who was sent here to spread bhakti but he forgot his

mission and instead used his shakti in political affairs.

My question is: How is it possible that Krishna sends someone with a mission

of spreading Krishna consciousness and than He abandons this person and

allows him to forget his real goal? I do understand that sometimes Krishna

wants to fights and arranges His devotees to become demons. But I cannot see

any reason for doing it to a preaching devotee... Are there any other such

examples described in shastras?

Please solve my doubts.
