And would one then call her a putri? > > Your servant Trayimaya dasa The sastra is interested in encouraging good sons and thus offers the incentive to the parents of deliverance from hell due to a good son doing the sraddha sacrifice. There is no sastric injunction for a girl to do that. At least none that I know of. If the daughter becomes a great devotee, then she can deliver all people, what to speak of her parents.
