Some 'trees' in the past where saying that only BIG tree is a real tree (Bhagavan for example). Also rtvic camp say that only mahabhagavata can be an initiating guru, and even that may seem to be so it is not. I don't think anyone can claim that. As you pointed out that realism is important.
