Guest guest
>> After some time it gets hard to keep track on which devotee is >> still bonafide, and which devotee who is not bona fide. > >It is not so hard. We just have to see if the words of a devotee >are in line with guru, sadhu, and sastra. If a devotee speaks >according to guru, sadhu, and sastra, he is bona fide. If he >deviates from guru, sadhu, and sastra, he is not bona fide. It is >as simple as that. Good point. On the contrary the guru-sadhu-sastra can be replaced by guru-(his)followers-(his)instructions where all three are dependent on the first. That is sentimental. When guru appears to have problems (or seems to) one can back up to sadhus and sasras. And yes one has to be personal, and has to be truthfull and honest, but to reflect and relay on relaible. >> What perplexes me is that in ISKCON there appears to be a >> continous stream of devotees, who first are highly glorified >> for their actions and devotion, and then after some time gets >> highly criticised as beeing offenders and all their actions >> suddenly are poison instead of nectar. > >If a devotee deviates from our philosophy and preaches against >Srila Prabhupada's teachings, why should he not be criticized or >corrected? Just because someone was doing wonderful things for >Srila Prabhupada and ISKCON, does that mean it should be accepted >when the same devotee begins to preach a philosophy which is >completely contrary to everything he was preaching before? Q: Sometimes devotees, they want to love Krsna, but they fall down, they can't seems to... Prabhupada: No, no. They want to love Krsna, but they divert their love to other things. That is the difficulty. If you want to love Krsna, then follow this--man-mana bhava mad-bhakto mad yaji mam namaskuru. If you love Krsna, then why you are diverting your attention? You are worshiping Deity, you are thinking of loving some woman. That's all. Huh? Why you are diverting? If you love Krsna, you are engaged in Krsna's service, just decorate nicely. Why you are diverting your attention? That means I'm not yet convinced that by loving Krsna I'll be perfect. That is the difficulty. Prabhupada's Lectures Srimad-Bhagavatam 1974 ============================================== So this is the process. The more you become attached to Krsna... That is very psychological. If you become attached to something, you become detached to something else. Attachment, detachment cannot be. So more you become attached to Krsna, then more you become detached to this material world. Just like... You, you, you cannot by artificial means, all of a sudden, brahma satya jagan mithya: "I take sannyasa." No, that will not be. First of all, you have to increase your attachment for Krsna. Then the sannyasa order will be durable. Otherwise you'll fall down. Again you'll be attached. Punar musiko bhava. There are so many instances.
