Guest guest
For your files "Avoiding a VAD cult movement" Part -2- ***** Divine aphorisms by His Divine Grace Srila Prabhupada ****** Here you find more aphorisms and extended quotes by HDG Srila Prabhupada on the topic of VAD. Warnings not to get too carried away by bodily designations like varnas or forming a new cult of VAD by identifying proudly as a so-called ksatriya, social reformer, varnasrama avatara, the VAD incarnation for the new age etc etc. ( Prabhupada lecture, general 1968 126497-173814 ) Question : You say that we should lose the designations. Now, would you consider the caste system as designations ? Prabhupada : Yes. Q : You would be then for abolishing the caste system ? Prabhupada : Yes. for a devotee there is no caste because he is servant of God. He does not belong to any material consciousness. This is Krishna consciousness. This is transcendental. ( Prabhupada lecture BG 1973 91450173814 ) " One who knows that I am spirit soul, I am not this body. he is brahmana. And one who doesn t know he is sudra, krpana. Etad viditya prayasa brahmana. Everyone does, that s alright. But one who does after knowing the spiritual truth - just like here, the students who are trying to understand what is spiritual life and somehow or other if they understand that he is spirit soul, at least then he becomes brahmana. He becomes brahmana. Etad viditya. And one who does not understand, he is krpana. Krpana means miser. Brahmana means liberal. These are the sastric injunctions. So, first of all, we have to become brahmana, then Vaisnava. Brahmanas simply know that "I am spirit soul", aham brahmasmi. Brahmajanat iti brahmana. Brahma bhuta prasanatma. By such knowledge one becomes prasanatma, means relieved. " ( Prabhupada Lecture BG 1975 93739173814 ) " So, don t remain in the ignorant stage of life. That is called sudra. Try to become brahmana. That is the meaning. It is not prohibited - that one cannot brahmana, no. One can become brahmana. If he gets association of a brahmana, if he agrees to be trained up by a brahmana, he can become brahmana. Brahmana means brahmajanat iti brahmana. Not by birth. Anyone who has full knowledge of the Supreme, he is brahmana. Janmana jayate sudra. By birth everyone is sudra. " ( Prabhupada lecture BG 1975 751031 Nairobi ) " Kartaham iti manyate. Ahankara vimudhatma. This false ego. " This ego " means false ego. And there is pure ego. That pure ego is aham brahmasmi and the false ego : I am Indian, I am American, I am African, I am - brahmana , I am - ksyatriya -, I am this, I am that. This is false ego - ahankara.
