Guest guest
(Here's something Chief Prosecutor Hare Krsna dasi is going to like.) ISKCON's social problems are to a large extent a reflection of those in the broader society. As long as we remain stuck in a society based on lust, greed and anger, we can expect quarrel, dissatisfaction and confusion even among devotees. We have to go to the land. It is in an agrarian based society that VAD can properly function. Breathe fresh air, eat fresh food, live without unnecessary anxiety, chant Hare Krsna and be happy. How to get to that point? That is a big discussion. But at least we should know where we want to go, and can expect all kinds of disturbances as long as we are not going there. (So when you hang us, make sure you do it with home made rope.)

At the end of the day, the principle is simple. When the leaders of the 4 varnas and asramas actually begin to lead the 4 varnas and asramas rather than berating them for being less renounced than they are, then we can at least BEGIN to make progress. As long as our sannyasis keep themselves aloof and merely criticise without really understanding how to minister and encourage all varnas and asramas in the proper execution of their sva-dharma then the situation is hopeless--and such neglectful "leaders" (enjoying the fruits of others' worship and respect) are held largely accountable for the social ills of such a society. If you are in fact as concerned as you say you are then there's no time like the present. Dd
