Guest guest
Fighting Xena wars on VNN? So inspired by the promise of VAD they are too busy doing to talk about it? Incidentally, even if nothing dramatic happens on Y2K, you should still be expecting a recession at minimum. Money spent on bringing companies into compliance has been coming from somewhere and the lack of it's use in places like Research and Development will have impacts. Even minor disruptions will probably produce large amounts of litigation by shark like lawyers and also have crippling efects. Additionally, companies, in anticipation of disruptions, are building inventories. Even if nothing happens, they will then start to draw down on inventories, thus stop placing orders which will slow the economy. The only contrarian view I have heard is that fund managers have been placing a larger percentage of their portfolios into cash than usual, and if nothing happens, and all that money flows back into the market after Y2K, it could contribute to a rise in the market.
