Guest guest
Dear devotees I would humbly like to chime in in agreement to some of Anantarupa's points. The fact that social dharma-s are as important as and helpful to sadhana- bhakti has been discussed well by Vidvan Gauranga in his posts and also by the highest authority Krishna in the Bhagavad-Gita. In light of this, some of the current practices and viewpoints in ISKCON seem helpful in a transitional way at best. (By the way, it was pointed out on a non ISKCON list that de-emphasis of social dharma-s is a unique feature of Shankaracharya's Gita commentary and is therefore anti-Vaishnava i.e. Mayavadi. I skimmed an English translation of it and saw that it is so.) Therefore, there is no need for insecurity by those who hold the former Vaishnava dharmic views. Having an evangelical/crusader approach on this definitely seems to express insecurity or maybe elitism to some, which delays a better understanding.
