You can still chant the Holy Names of the Lord, read Srila Prabhupada's Books and be a bhakta. This is undeniable. But I do not think it is wise for one's own self realization to deny the fact that we make some choices for sense gratification even though otherwise we are trying to develop our God consciousness. > > I have to admit I am also feeling to be a bit of a reactionary on this one, at least to the degree it has become a topic on this conference. If Prsna feels this operation will help his/her chanting and so one, than it can certainly be considered as something progressive. As Xena might say, a man has got to do what a man has got to do. I stand corrected on the point as there are few more examples of 'gender changes' in the sastra than I had previously considered -- for example -- Mohini Murti. But these were done throught subtle sciences and apparently not over some confusion of one's temporary psycological inclination. To me, this mechanical gender change afforded by modern medicine is very expensive, incomplete and temporary. Prsni mentioned that people who didn't previously know him/her as a man can easily except him/her as a women. That isn't so difficult to understand -- this is not an issue of downplaying the importance of the feminine energy. But for many it is a bit awkward to consider one's mechanically changing one's current material body to another gender so as to attempt to experience the other side with one's gross body. Any rate, Prsni has made his/her decision and I'd like to wish him all the best as a her. ys, Sthita-'look man, I'm a guy' dhi-muni dasa

Naturally, that idea wouldn't apply to me. ..
