Arjuna is a perfect example of this, I think? Did Sri Krsna teach Arjuna everything and then tell him to give up his duty as a ksatriya? Just the opposite I think. The Bhagavad-gita is excellent philosophy though not accepted by some Vedantists as "high" philosophy. It is certainly high enough for most ksatriyas to learn in order to protect their charges.
