I agree to your implementation of varnasrama, so that a bhakta does not

feel forced to be initiated simply to have a right to exist but can make it

a personal choice in due time. As a guru can be situated in any of the

varnas he should not have to be depending solitarily on financial support

from his disciples, but should also be placed in a sustainable position

where he can be independant and respected, in order to be able to preach the

truth. Unless of course he is a sannyasi and solely dependant on the Lords

protection.

The idea of the guru as some magician who has the solution to all problems

without knowing the circumstances or the persons, should be saved for

emergencycases. He has the solution no doubt if he is bonafide, but he

aplies it according to time, place and circumstances in order for it to have

an effect, either personally or by putting the disciple in the hands of

trusthworthy people. Srila Prabhupada did this perfectly.

I have seen several instances of blind following the guru's order without

questioning it further to understand the implications and without properly

explaining the actual situation to the guru, in the case of the guru being

Srila Prabhupada without looking at the specific circumstances in which the

solution was given. This creates a lot of confusion.

Namahatta/Increasing the cooperation of devotees outside the temple, stop

the we and them sickness.

Education and care for our young people, initiated or not they are an

important part/the future of the family.

I support Hare Krsna Prabhu's suggestion of increased and honest education

on the guru/disciple-matter followed by responsible caretaking.

I also liked Sambha Prabhu's suggestion of villages and praying for

association.

I think the system we are attempting to follow is perfect since it is after

all Krishna's setup, but maybe we are not always aplying it perfectly due to

unsincerity, envy, too high expectations, bodily limitations, karma,

offences, pride, untrained people, demoniac economical systems, kali yuga,

lack of experience. four defects....

I guess we will have to work on all these things while simultaniously

trying to improve our own individual devotional practise, personally I know

this to be my greatest problem.

Guru, sadhu and sastra should be in harmony, not fighting for supremecy,

not trying to push out eachother, then there is something wrong.

Your servant Gunamani d.d.

My suggestion for how the leaders should correct the problem of unqualified

gurus

is to write an informational booklet based on practical experience and sastra

and

to implement systematic training of bhaktas on how to select a guru.

Otherwise,

young devotees will continue to select a guru based on the same technique they

use

to select a movie star or rock star -- feelings and fame. And with often

disappointing and distressing results.
