It has NEVER > been attempted in the manner described by Prabhupada. Dead right. To my mind this exists because very few really want to surrender to it. I was pleased to hear that at least BB Govinda Swami, and the devotees in Kazaksthan are trying to do something (albeit mostly vaisyik). One thing that seems certain is that there is a lot of bad Karma due to a lot of people, because of unlimited cow slaughter and an ever increasing rate and variety of society wide sinful activity, maybe we can call it sinphocity, or sinfociousness (we can really get into coining some new phrases on this conference, what fun!). So whether it is Y2k, or another war or something else, a world crisis is well overdue. Those that beleive Srila Prabhupada, and work towards creating a varnasrama society will be best placed to survivive it. Its funny but I suspect a lot of our ISKCON types are quite happy with the world as it is. Especialy those who can enjoy all the infrastructure, and have a little cash. We dont really think that it is hellish at all. Prabhupada tried to open our eyes as to the wastefulness (and sinfulness) of the demoniac materialistic commercial machine, and to the wisdom and actual benefits (sattvik life, and the close contact with Krsna's natural world), that come from a small scale community that takes care of all its needs. Well the writing is on the wall. YS.
