The idea is apparently coming from Germany, for their own directing their own lives as they find it appropriate. You seem to be not aware of the situation in Germany. After HKS has left, it is a big vacant space in term of ISCKON leaders deciding over devotees how to go on with their lives. Actually, there is the great feeling of distrust to the authorities. So, this idea of "3 years of temple&sankirtan" *definitely* has just nothing to do with "they need money to keep the plane tickets rolling". It might be your first thought, though, but let's not get hooked up on that. And you also seem to not be recognizing the particular German nature. For an American-born Janesvara, it may be "brainwashing", but for German mentality "three years in the temple and sankirtana" can make just sense and the way how things are to be done. Failing to be ready to recognize other people's nature, while in the same time claiming that one got to recognize the same, is quite interesting. > > Honestly, people complain that we are complaining, but there is so much > injustice, it is our duty to cry out until we are heard. The way we are > doing things in this society today, is NOT the way Srila Prabhupada wanted > it. We must speak out, until things are changed. But against *whom* you are exactly complaining now? Who exactly are "they" in this particular instance? The leaders? Or the devotees in Germany? Or some group that is neither leaders nor general body of devotees? It us funny that even if we don't have sufficient information, that doesn't prevent us to condemn "them", to blast the idea all together, and to assume that "the way I would like to do in my life now" is the way how "they" got to do it. Or in other words, first pull the gun and shoot, then find out what/whom actually was. Look, Harsi just wrote that he heard how there in Germany they are getting the idea if some different way, where he says: "... then go for SOME TIME on sankirtan and after three years in the temple... " And both you an Janesvara go immediately off into sky: "What, force everybody 3 years on sankiratana! Abuse of human rights! Brainwashing. Occultism!" So, what's that terribly wrong and against Prabhupada? Please, explain. Both you and Janesvara seem to be reading far too much into some simple sentence of Harsi. - mnd
