Guest guest
Please accept my humble obeisances. All glories to Srila Prabhupada. > How it comes that for so > long time abuses remaind undiscovered? Why did the children endured this > for so long without saying anything? My guess:amongst other reasons because of a lack of honest communication, and because of mistaking low selfesteem with humility. .. Imagine being always made feel guilty because you love your child so much that you want to see him. Imagine being called the enemy of your child because of your love. Imagine being in a situation where it seems like you are the one to decide if your child will become a demon or a devotee and the choice is, that for him to become a devotee you have to not mix in with your sentimentality(motherly affection) Imagine always being shown pictures and told stories of happy smiling and jumping children in safron or yellow and getting positive letters of him being at the rathayatra. Imagine being in a financial strained situation which might barely keep your child at the school if both parents work fulltime, and which do not allow for travels. Imagine being a child amongst strangers, trained to respect authorities, trained to be tolerant, unaware of sexuality and abusive behaviour of grownups. Unable to write, phone or take a train or a bus not to speak of an airplane, without money, and trained to see all nondevotees as enemies. Unable to grasp the reality of being abandoned by your loving parents, unable to distinguise between lies and truth told by the ones who abuse you. So honest communication, high selfesteem, and an realistic understanding of the world around us and of ourselves as human beings will greatly help to prevent these things, combined with strong emotional ties used in the right perspective. Love between husband and wife is natural and they should spend time together, not avoid eachother. Love between children and parents is necessary and helpfull for the healthy development of the child. Sannyas is mainly for old men full of days. How do we improve the selfesteem of our children? By not expecting them to earn our love, but by accepting them as they are, eternal parts and parcels of the Lord. Srila Prabhupada´s mother and father being the perfect examples. How do we improve the selfesteem of others? Same thing. Srila Prabhupada being the perfect example. And to have a high selfesteem is not the same as being proud. Srila Prabhupada being the perfect example. Ys. Gm d.d.
